David Mabbott

David is an experienced workshop leader and facilitator, having been working for over a decade with groups of all ages in both theatre and music settings.

Inclusive Arts

David is Co-Artistic Director of Angel Shed Theatre Company. Angel Shed is an inclusive charity with the vision that every child, regardless of ability or background, be given the opportunity to participate in the performing arts. The company runs 6 core weekly membership groups for children and young people aged 5-19 alongside bespoke projects and outreach work in the local community.

Experience in community arts settings has included: running a performing arts group for young people aged 11-19 with a learning disability, at Centre 404, working with people of all ages with additional learning needs as a workshop leader with Music Making SENse.

Musical Director

David has been Musical Director or Assistant MD for numerous youth, amateur, and professional theatre productions; shows have included In Search of Alice (Sadlers Wells, 2019 – MD), Richard II (Angel Shed, 2018 – MD), Closer to Heaven (Union Theatre, 2015 – dep MD), Grease (Beck Theatre, 2014 – AMD) and Snow White (Sheffield City Hall, 2013/14 – AMD).

Performer

David is a multi-instrumentalist, performing on piano/keyboards, bass guitar, double bass and saxophone. Current projects include alt-pop trio KYOTI.

Composer

David has extensive experience writing songs and music for theatre productions, film, and various bands and ensembles. 

David studied Music (BMus) and Film (MA) at Newcastle University and is currently based in North London. He is a freelance musician and theatre practitioner.
